ADPUSH 2.0 - Group And Content Targeting

This feature is powerful! It will allow you to rotate specific banners only on specific pages, or group of pages on your site. First, let's talk about why you would want to use the content targeting feature of ADPUSH 2.0.

Let's say you have a large site dedicated to two distinct audiences: Sports and Computers. Although the site can be viewed as one large set of impressions you may want to limit sports banners only to the sports pages and computer banners to only the computer areas of your site.

By using the group/target fields you can indicate what group a banner will fit into. You can use any name you wish as long as it is 5 characters or less and does not contain any special symbols. You may have up to 10 content groups for each banner.

Groups (Content Targeting):

You can accurately target which of your Web pages this banner will appear on by specifying group names for it below. Please review the help section for a detailed description of how to use this powerful feature.

This banner belongs to the following groups (you can specify up to 10).
Please note, group names can contain up to 5 alphanumeric characters and are case sensitive.

Now what?

Using our sports and computers example from above you could indicate the following groups: SPMAIN and SPSUB for as many banners as you want. For your computer banners you could use CMAIN and CSUB as the group names.

The idea being SPMAIN and CMAIN will be the rotated on main pages of the site and SPSUB and CSUB would be rotated on the subordinate pages.

Once you have decided on the content group names all you have to do is add:

g:groupnamep,groupname2,groupname3....,groupname10

Or

g:SPMAIN,CMAIN for the main pages and

g:SPSUB,CSUB for the minor pages.

to your ADPUSH HTML fragment.

Or to just show main sports banners on a page you would add the group parameter as follows:

g:SPMAIN

So your ADPUSH HTML would look something like this:

href="http://adpush.dreamscape.com/adpush/bin/adpush.cgi?A20000,10,grp:SPMAIN">
<imgsrc="http://adpush.dreamscape.com/adpush/bin/adserve.cgi?A20000,10">

Notice that the grp feature has been added after a comma in your HREF portion of the tag. If you wanted ALL banners of your content units to rotate then your code would look like this:

href="http://adpush.dreamscape.com/adpush/bin/adpush.cgi?A20000,10,grp:SPMAIN,
grp:SPSUB,grp:CMAIN,grp:CSUB
">
<imgsrc="http://adpush.dreamscape.com/adpush/bin/adserve.cgi?A20000,10">

You will notice that all our example content groups have been used. The group names are case sensitive and must be entered into your tag exactly as you have them defined in your banner attributes.
